Seachem KanaPlex™ is a broad spectrum antibiotic, a blended kanamycin-based medication, to treat fungal and bacterial fish diseases such as dropsy, popeye, fin/tail rot, septicemia.
KanaPlex is a highly effective antibiotic that is easily absorbed through both skin and gills. Because ingestion is not required, this medication is a good treatment for sick fish that refuse to eat. Treatment can be even more effective when combined with nitrofurazone (API Furan-2) to create a wide spectrum treatment.
Kanamycin can be used in freshwater or marine aquariums – it works especially well in saltwater aquariums in high pH environments. It does not adversely affect the filter bed and is easily removed with carbon. It is an excellent medication for treating bacterial infections in tanks that contain invertebrates by using the medication in a medicated food mix.
KanaPlex™ is appropriate for treating a variety of fungal, and bacterial fish diseases. Below are some of the more common diseases treatable with KanaPlex™. Be aware that many diseases and infections share similar physical and behavioral symptoms, e.g. clamped fins, lesions, loss of appetite.
